Land Rover Defender: Emergency Park Release Cable
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release Emergency Park Release (EPR) cable from the 3 clips.
4.
- Remove the 20 bolts.
- Remove the transmission undershield.
5.
- Remove the 8 bolts.
- Remove the transmission undershield.
6.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the clip.
- Release the EPR lever.

NOTE:
This step is only required for 3.0L petrol vehicles.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the EPR lever from the transmission.

NOTE:
Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
Remove the EPR cable assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the Emergency Park Release (EPR) cable assembly.
2.
NOTE:
This step is only required for 3.0L petrol vehicles.
- Install the EPR lever to the transmission.
- Install and tighten the nut.
Torque: 11Nm
3.
- Install the EPR cable to the transmission.
- Install the cable clip.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
4.
- Install the transmission undershield.
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
Torque: 20Nm
5.
- Install the transmission undershield.
- Install and tighten the 20 bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
6.
- Install the EPR cable to the 3 clips.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 10Nm
7. Install the engine cover.
