REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL
WARNING:
Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the
fluid.
CAUTIONS:
- If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be
immediately washed down with cold water.
- Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and
free from foreign material. When
disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right
side components are similar.
1. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment and set the
Integrated Power Brake to
the assembly mode.

2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2-post lift.
3. Remove the front wheel and tire.

CAUTION:
The brake pad wear sensor, which is installed on the left side only, is easily
damaged. Do not use
excessive force to release the lead.
NOTE:
Note the routed position of the wiring harnesses prior to removal.
- Release the wheel speed sensor lead.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the wiring harness bracket from the wheel knuckle.

CAUTION:
The brake pad wear sensor, which is installed on the left side only, is easily
damaged. Do not use
excessive force to release the lead.
NOTES:
- Make a note of the routed position of the wiring harness prior to
removal.
- Vehicle with 6 piston fixed caliper.
- Release the wheel speed sensor lead.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield from the wheel knuckle.

WARNING:

NOTE:
Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
- Loosen the brake pipe union.
- Remove and discard the nut.
- Remove the retaining clip.
- Disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe.

If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately

NOTE:
Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
- Remove the banjo bolt.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove and discard the brake hose.
INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted and is correctly located.

NOTE:
Make sure that the harness is routed to the position noted on removal.
- Install the heatshield to the wheel knuckle.
- Install and tighten the 2 heatshield to wheel knuckle bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
- Secure the wheel speed sensor lead.
- Secure the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.

NOTE:
Make sure that the wiring harnesses are routed to the position noted on removal.
- Install the wiring harness bracket to the wheel knuckle.
- Install and tighten the wiring harness bracket to wheel knuckle bolt.
Torque: 10Nm
- Secure the wheel speed sensor lead.
- Secure the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.
5. Bleed the brake system.
6. Use the Integrated Power Brake 'Leakage and Air Monitoring' to inspect the
complete brake system for
volume consumption and leakage.
7. If the bleeding is not successful, preform the Integrated Power Brake
Repair Bleed.
8. Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment and disable the Integrated Power
Brake assembly mode.

9. Install the front wheel and tire.

CENTRAL DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM - MANUAL OPERATION
The CDL system provides the option of 2 or 3 manual locking modes, dependent
on the vehicle specification.
The locking modes are activated using the driver door CDL lock/unlock switches,
or the smart key lock/unlock
switches:
