Land Rover Defender: Rear Air Reservoir Valve Block
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL
WARNING:
Residual air pressure may be present in the system. Take care when releasing air
line connectors.
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from
foreign material. When
disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to
depressurize the rear air springs.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2-post lift.
4. Remove the rear right wheel and tire assembly.
5.
- Remove the 5 bolts.
- Remove the rear right mudflap.
6.
- Remove the 3 screws.
- Remove the 7 clips.
- Remove the rear right wheel arch liner.

CAUTION:
Note the orientation of the color coded air lines prior to removal.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear air reservoir valve
block.
- Release the air lines from the 5 clips.
- Release the 5 air lines from the rear air reservoir valve block.
8.
Release the rear air reservoir valve block at the 3 rubbers as illustrated.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the rear air reservoir valve block.
2.
CAUTION:
- Refer to the orientation of the color coded air lines as previously
noted at the removal.
- Do not reuse the air line connectors. Always install a new air line
connector every time it is
released.
Connect and tighten the 5 air lines to the rear air reservoir valve block.
Renew Part: Air line connector(s) Quantity: 5.
Torque
- 6mm air lines: 3.5Nm
- 8mm air lines: 4.5Nm
3.
- Secure the air lines to the 5 clips.
- Connect the electrical connector to the rear air reservoir valve block.
4.
- Install the rear right wheel arch liner.
- Install the 7 clips.
- Install the 3 screws.
- Install the rear right mudflap.
- Install and tighten the 5 bolts.
5. Install the rear right wheel and tire.
6. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

CAUTION:
This step must be completed before the vehicle is fully lowered. Failure to
follow this instruction
might result in damage to the component.
Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to complete the
air suspension manual
control procedure.
8.
CAUTION:
This step must be completed in order to maintain the correct air suspension
compressor/dryer
performance.
Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to pressurize the rear air springs.

WARNING:
Take extra care when handling Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)
components.
To avoid accidental deployment, the restraints control module backup
power supply must be depleted.
Wait at least 1 minute after disconnecting the battery ground
