Land Rover Defender: Rear Door Window Regulator
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Protect the surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right
side components are similar.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.

Lower the rear door window.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Remove the rear door trim panel.

- Release the 5 clips.
- Remove the access cover.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the interior door handle.

- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors from the rear door control
module.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the bass speaker.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the Clear Exit Detection System
(CEDS) switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the passive entry sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear door window switch.
- Release the 6 wiring harness clips.

- Remove the screw.
- Remove the 16 bolts.
- Disconnect the door release cable.
- Remove the inner door panel.

- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear window regulator
motor.
- Release the rear door window from the regulator clip.

- Raise the rear door window.
- Use an adhesive tape to secure the rear door window to the door frame.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the rear door window regulator.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Install the rear window regulator.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 7Nm
2. Remove the adhesive tape.
3.
CAUTION:
Make sure that audible click is heard when the clip fully located.
- Connect the rear door window to the regulator clip.
- Connect the electrical connector to the rear window regulator motor.

- Install the door release cable.
- Install the inner door panel.
- Install and tighten the screw.
Torque: 3.2Nm
- Install and tighten the 16 bolts.
Torque: 6Nm

- Connect the 3 electrical connectors to the rear door control module.
- Connect the electrical connector to the bass speaker.
- Connect the electrical connector to the Clear Exit Detection System (CEDS)
switch.
- Connect the electrical connector to the passive entry sensor.
- Connect the electrical connector to the rear door window switch.
- Install the 6 wiring harness clips.
6.
- Install the interior door handle.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 6Nm
7. Install the door handle access cover.
8. Install the rear door trim panel.
9. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
