Land Rover Defender: Service Indicator Reset
GENERAL PROCEDURES
SYNCHRONIZATION
NOTES:
- For Diesel vehicles and depending on the specification, this
procedure will only reset the oil dilution
counter after a service.
- To reset the time and distance counters for these vehicles, complete
the configuration step.
1.
NOTE:
Make sure the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment is not connected
to the vehicle.
Set the ignition to the ON position.
2. Open the hood.
3. Open the drivers door.
4.
NOTE:
If the accelerator pedal pressed before the brake pedal this will cause Brake
Over Accelerator
(BOA) logic and will default the accelerator pedal to 0%. If this happens the
service reset
procedure will have to be restarted.
Fully depress the brake pedal then the accelerator pedal and hold for 10
seconds.
5. A 'Service Reset' message will appear on the instrument cluster.
6. Release the accelerator and brake pedals and set the ignition to the OFF
position.
7. Set the ignition to the ON position and check the message has been
cleared.
8. If the message remains, repeat the process.
CONFIGURATION
1. Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, reset the
Service Interval Indicator (SII).

NOTES:

1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
3. Remove the rear bumper.

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 2 clips and remove the side obstacle detection control
module.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
An audible click is heard when the clips are fully latched.
- Install the side obstacle detection control module.
- Connect the electrical connector.
2. Install the rear bumper.
3. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
4. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to configure
the side obstacle detection
control module.

When the Terrain Response (TR) switch operated, and the rotary switch turned
to select, the signal goes from the
ICIMA:
To the HVAC Control Module (HVAC) through the Private High Speed (HS)
Controller Area Network (CAN) bus
connection.
The HVAC transmit the signal to the BCM/ GWM through the
