Land Rover Defender: Fire Extinguisher

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

NOTES:

Fire Extinguisher

WARNING: Always install the fire extinguisher to the passenger front row seat. Do not install the fire extinguisher to the driver front row seat.

NOTE: The fire extinguisher can only be installed to left hand drive vehicles.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove the startup battery. Ask your Jaguar Land Rover Retailer for a copy of this instruction if you do not have access to TOPIx.

Fire Extinguisher

Identify the rivet nut hole on the right side of the battery box under the seat area.

CAUTION: Make sure to avoid damaging the thread of the rivet nut.

Fire Extinguisher

Use a tool with a sharp point, that has an external diameter less than 4 mm, to push through the rivet nut and create a marker hole in the rubber floor trim.

CAUTION: Adjust the center drill of the arbor so that it protrudes no further than 10 mm beyond the cutting teeth.

Fire Extinguisher

Use a suitable hole cutter to cut and discard the rubber floor trim as illustrated. Use the hole created in the previous step as a guide.

Fire Extinguisher

Align the fire extinguisher bracket boss with the hole and rivet nut. Use the fixing (B) to loosely attach the bracket.

Fire Extinguisher

Align the fire extinguisher bracket so it is level with the footwell floor. Mark the center of the hole in the inboard boss of the bracket onto the vertical face of the plastic flooring.

CAUTION: Adjust the center drill of the arbor so that it protrudes no further than 10 mm beyond the cutting teeth.

Fire Extinguisher

Use a suitable hole cutter to cut and discard the rubber floor trim as illustrated. Use the mark as a guide.

Fire Extinguisher

Install the bracket (A) using the fixings (B).

9.

NOTE: Align the fire extinguisher (D) onto the locating peg as illustrated.

Fire Extinguisher

Install the fire extinguisher (D) into the fire extinguisher holder (A) as illustrated.

10.

CAUTION: Make sure the fire extinguisher is securely attached to the fire extinguisher holder (A).

Fire Extinguisher

Secure the fire extinguisher using the quick release strap.

11. Install the startup battery. Ask your Jaguar Land Rover Retailer for a copy of this instruction if you do not have access to TOPIx.
