Land Rover Defender: Floor Console
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
2. Remove the floor console upper trim.
3.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Release the 3 clips.
- Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors.
- Remove the floor console rear trim panel.

- Remove the 5 screws.
- Remove the cup holder.
5.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the floor console rear stowage compartment.
6.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Reposition the floor console wiring harness.
7.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Reposition the floor console wiring harness.
8.
Remove the floor console.
9.
NOTE:
Only complete the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the floor console upper moulding.
10.
- Remove the 10 screws.
- Remove the 2 trim panels.
11.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the floor console lower moulding.
12.
Release the 16 wiring harness clips.
13.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connector from the climate sensors.
- Release the 5 clips.
14.
Release the 4 clips.
15.
Remove the floor console wiring harness.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
Only perform the steps 1 to 5 if the component was previously removed.
Install the floor console wiring harness.
2.
- Install the 4 wiring harness clips to the bottom of the floor console.
- Install the 5 wiring harness clips to the rear of the floor console.
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the climate sensors.
- Install the 16 wiring harness clips to the front of the floor console.
3.
- Install the floor console lower moulding.
- Install the 2 clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
4.
- Install the 2 trim panels.
- Install and tighten the 10 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
5.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the floor console upper moulding.
- Install the 2 clips.
- Install and tighten the 6 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
6.
- Install the floor console.
- Connect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Install and tighten the 6 bolts.
Torque: 9Nm
7.
- Install the cup holder.
- Install and tighten the 5 screws.
Torque: 1.2Nm
8.
- Install the floor console rear stowage compartment.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 1.7Nm
9.
- Connect the 5 electrical connectors.
- Install the 3 clips.
- Install the floor console rear trim panel.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
10. Install the floor console upper trim.
11. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

In a collision, the force of the impact is measured by the impact sensors,
pressure sensors and the RCM internal
accelerometer. The RCM evaluates the readings to determine the impact point on
the vehicle. The RCM also
determines if the readings exceed the limits for firing any of the airbags and
