Land Rover Defender: Fuel Supply Line

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

GENERAL EQUIPMENT

Fuel Supply Line

REMOVAL

NOTES:

The following step(s) applies to: All vehicles

1. Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety section of this manual.

2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

4. Remove the front left fender splash shield.

Fuel Supply Line

Release the wiring harness clip from the lower fuel supply line mounting bracket.

6.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material.

When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

Fuel Supply Line

Remove the lower fuel supply line mounting bracket nut and disconnect the 2 fuel supply line connectors from the underbody fuel lines.

7. Lower the vehicle on the lift to an appropriate working height.

8. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms.

Fuel Supply Line

Release the cowl vent screen.

Fuel Supply Line

Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and remove the cowl vent screen.

Fuel Supply Line

Remove the body brace and fuel supply line rubber mounting.

The following step(s) applies to: Right-hand drive vehicles

Fuel Supply Line

Release and reposition the fuse box.

The following step(s) applies to: All vehicles

Fuel Supply Line

Release the fuel supply line to body clip.

Fuel Supply Line

Release the 2 wiring harness clips from the upper fuel supply line mounting bracket.

Fuel Supply Line

Remove the upper fuel supply line mounting bracket to body bolt.

16.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material.

When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

Fuel Supply Line

Disconnect the 2 fuel supply line connectors from the engine and remove the fuel supply line from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1.

Fuel Supply Line

Make sure that all the O-ring seals are correctly installed before connecting the fuel supply line connectors.

2. Install the fuel supply line to the vehicle.

3. Connect the 2 fuel supply line connectors to the engine.

4. Install the upper fuel supply line bracket to body bolt.

Torque: 7Nm

5. Connect the 2 wiring harness clips to the upper fuel supply line bracket.

6. Connect the fuel supply line to body clip.

7. Install the fuse box if previously removed.

Torque: 7Nm

8. Install the body brace and fuel supply line rubber mounting.

Torque: 55Nm

9. Install the cowl vent screen.

10. Install the windshield wiper pivot arms.

11. Raise the vehicle on the lift to an appropriate working height.

12. Connect the 2 fuel supply line connectors to the underbody fuel lines.

13. Install the lower fuel supply line mounting bracket nut.

Torque: 7Nm

14. Install the wiring harness clip to the lower fuel supply line mounting bracket.

15. Install the front left fender splash shield.

16. Lower the vehicle to the floor.

17. Connect the battery ground cable.

18. Bleed the fuel system.
