High-Pressure Fuel System Bleeding
GENERAL PROCEDURES
WARNING:
Avoid flames, sparks or lighted substances.
CAUTION:
This procedure is necessary if any of the following fuel system components
are removed, disconnected or
replaced:
- High pressure fuel pump
- High pressure fuel lines
- Fuel injectors
1. Before handling any components within the fuel system make sure that the
fuel health and safety guidelines
are followed.
2.
CAUTION:
Do not start the engine.
Repeat the following procedure 3 times.
- Set the ignition to the ON position.
- Wait for 65 seconds.
- Set the ignition to the OFF position.
3.
CAUTION:
Do not crank the engine for more than 20 seconds.
Start the engine and allow to idle for 60 seconds.
Low-Pressure Fuel System Bleeding
GENERAL PROCEDURES
WARNING:
Avoid flames, sparks or lighted substances.
CAUTION:
This procedure is necessary if any of the following fuel system components are
removed, disconnected or
replaced:
- Fuel tank
- Low pressure fuel pump
- Low pressure fuel lines
- Fuel filter
- Fuel cooler
1. Before handling any components within the fuel system make sure that the
fuel health and safety guidelines
are followed.
2.
CAUTION:
Do not start the engine.
Repeat the following procedure 3 times.
- Set the ignition to the ON position.
- Wait for 65 seconds.
- Set the ignition to the OFF position.
3.
CAUTION:
Do not crank the engine for more than 20 seconds.
Start the engine and allow to idle for 60 seconds.
Fuel Injection Component Cleaning
GENERAL PROCEDURES
CHECK
WARNING:
- Avoid flames, sparks or lighted substances.
- Wait for a minimum of 1 minute after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any repair to the fuel
system.
1. Before handling any components within the fuel system make sure that the
fuel health and safety guidelines
are followed.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Use a new brush that will not lose its bristles, brush cleaning fluid onto
the components being removed and
onto the surrounding area.
4. Use a pneumatic vacuum gun, remove all traces of cleaning fluid and
foreign material.
5. Dispose of any used cleaning fluid and the brush after completing the
repair.
6. Install the engine cover.
