GENERAL EQUIPMENT
CAUTION:
New transmission assemblies are supplied pre-filled with transmission fluid.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
3. Remove the secondary bulkhead center panel.
4.
Release the breather pipes from the 3 clips.
5.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the purge valve from the mounting bracket.

- Install the 2 engine compartment braces as illustrated.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 20Nm
9.
Install the engine support beam and the engine support adapter as
illustrated.
Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1692, JLR-303-1692-04
10. Remove the catalytic converter.
11. Remove the rear driveshaft.
12. Remove the starter motor.
13.
Use a suitable transmission jack to support the transmission.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
14. Remove the front driveshaft.
15.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) pressure sensor.
16.
- Remove the nut.
- Reposition the solenoid away from the transmission.
17.
CAUTION:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the transmission fluid cooler pipes.
- Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.
18.
- Release the Emergency Park Release (EPR) cable from EPR lever.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the 2 EPR cable clips.
- Reposition the EPR away from the transmission.

- Remove the nut.
- Reposition the breather pipe away from the transmission.
20.
- Release the 2 transmission wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the transmission to body wiring harness electrical connector.
21.
- Remove the bolt.
- Reposition the ground cable away from the transmission.
22.
CAUTION:
Only rotate the engine clockwise.
Remove and discard the 4 drive plate bolts.

NOTE:
Note the installed position of the bolts prior to removal.
Remove the 4 left side transmission bolts.
24.
Remove the 4 right side transmission bolts.
25.
Remove the 2 lower transmission to engine bolts.
26.
WARNING:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the torque converter remains in the transmission.
NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Remove the transmission assembly.

NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if component if removed for access only.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Release the 2 breather pipes.
- Remove the 2 breather pipes.

- Remove the bolt.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
29.
- Disconnect the transmission electrical connector.
- Remove the wiring harness bolt.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
31.
- Remove the 2 wiring harness bracket bolts.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
32.
Remove the transmission wiring harness.
33.
WARNING:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
34.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the catalytic converter to transmission mounting bracket.
35.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
36.
- Remove the 4 clips.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove 3 heatshields.
37.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the EPR lever.
38.
Remove the transmission cap.
