CAUTION: New transmission assemblies are supplied pre-filled with transmission fluid.

NOTES:

  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

NOTE: This step is only required if a new transmission is to be installed.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Remove the 3 bolts and the torque converter transportation brace.

Make sure the torque converter is installed to the measurements show.

Install the transmission plug.

Install the transmission wiring harness.

WARNING: To prevent water ingress and subsequent transmission damage, make sure that the breather is fully installed into the transmission casing. The white line around the circumference of the pipe should not be visible when correctly installed.

WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

CAUTION: Make sure that the torque converter remains in the transmission.

Install the transmission assembly.

16.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Install and tighten the 2 lower transmission to engine bolts.

Torque: 40Nm

17.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Install and tighten the 4 right side transmission to engine bolts.

Torque: 40Nm

18.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Install and tighten the 4 left side transmission to engine bolts.

Torque: 40Nm

19.

CAUTION: Only rotate the engine clockwise.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Install and tighten the 4 new torque converter bolts.

Renew Part: Torque converter bolts Quantity: 4.

Torque: 70Nm

27. Install the front driveshaft.

Remove the transmission jack.

General Equipment: Transmission jack

29. Install the starter motor.

30. Connect the rear driveshaft.

31. Install the catalytic converter.

Transmission - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol

Remove the engine support beam and the engine support adapter.

Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1692, JLR-303-1692-04

Install the breather pipes to the 3 clips.

38. Install the secondary bulkhead center panel.

39. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

40. Check the transmission fluid level.

41. Use the suitable Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to configure the new transmission.
