Land Rover Defender: Front Armature
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Remove the front bumper.
3.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Remove the lower air deflector.
4.
NOTE:
Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the brake cooling air duct.
5.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the cooling module protector assembly.
6.
CAUTION:
Care must be taken not to damage the component.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the coolant expansion tank.
- Reposition the coolant expansion tank to get access to the 2 front
armature upper bolts on the left side.
7.
Remove the 2 front armature upper bolts on the left side.
8.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Reposition the engine wiring harness support bracket to get access to
the 2 front armature upper bolts
on the right side.
9.
Remove the 2 front armature upper bolts on the right side.
10.
WARNING:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Remove the 8 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the front armature.
INSTALLATION
1.
- With assistance, install the front armature.
- Install and tighten the 8 front armature bolts.
Torque: 55Nm
2. Install and tighten the 4 front armature upper bolts on both sides.
Torque: 55Nm
3.
- Install the engine wiring harness support bracket.
- Install and tighten the 2 wiring harness support bracket bolts.
Torque: 9Nm
4.
CAUTION:
Care must be taken not to damage the component.
- Install the coolant expansion tank.
- Install and tighten the coolant expansion tank bolt.
Torque: 9Nm
5.
- Install the cooling module protector assembly.
- Install and tighten the 4 cooling module protector bolts.
Torque
6.
NOTE:
Repeat the step for the other side.
- Install the brake cooling air duct.
- Install the 2 brake cooling air duct clips.
7.
- Install the lower air deflector.
- Install and tighten the 6 lower air deflector screws.
Torque: 5Nm
8. Install the front bumper.
