REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL
WARNING:

NOTE:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Remove the rear bumper.
4. Remove the rear exhaust silencer.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with 2.0L engine
5.
- Remove the 3 fasteners.
- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with 3.0L petrol engine

- Remove the 5 fasteners.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the rear silencer heatshield.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

Remove and discard the 8 bolts.
8.
Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
9.
- Remove and discard the 8 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the rear armature.
INSTALLATION
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

2. Connect the 3 electrical connectors to the tow bar.

NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
- Tighten the 3 bolts.
Torque
- Stage1: 100Nm
- Stage2: 240º
5.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
- Tighten the bolt.
Torque
- Stage1: 100Nm
- Stage2: 120º
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with 3.0L petrol engine

- Install the rear silencer heatshield.
- Install and tighten the 4 heatshield bolts.
Torque: 8Nm
- Install and tighten the 2 heatshield bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
- Install the 5 heatshield fasteners.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with 2.0L engine
7.
- Install the heatshield.
- Install and tighten the 4 heatshield bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
- Install and tighten the 2 heatshield nuts.
Torque: 8Nm
- Install the 3 heatshield fasteners.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
8. Install the rear silencer.
9. Install the rear bumper.
10. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
