Land Rover Defender: Front Door Window Regulator
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
WARNING:
To avoid accidental deployment, the Restraints Control Module (RCM) backup power
supply must be
depleted. Wait at least 1 minute after disconnecting the startup battery ground
cable(s) before doing any
repair or adjustment to the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), or any
component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
Protect the surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right
side components are similar.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the

Lower the front door window.
2. Make the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) safe.
3. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
4. Remove the front door trim panel.

- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors from the front door control
module.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the bass speaker.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the front door impact sensor.
- Release the 10 wiring harness clips.

- Release the clip.
- Remove the screw.
- Remove the 17 bolts.
- Release the interior door handle cable.
- Remove the inner door panel.

- Disconnect the electrical connector from the front window regulator
motor.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Release the front door window from the 2 regulator clips.

- Raise the front door window.
- Use an adhesive tape to secure the front door window to the front door
frame.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the front door window regulator.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Install the front window regulator.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 7Nm
2. Remove the adhesive tape.
3.
CAUTION:
Make sure that 2 audible clicks are heard when the clips are fully located.
- Connect the front door window to the 2 regulator clips.
- Connect the electrical connector to the front window regulator motor.
- Install the wiring harness clip.

- Install the interior door handle cable.
- Install the inner door panel.
- Secure the clip.
- Install and tighten the screw.
Torque: 3.2Nm
- Install and tighten the 17 bolts.
Torque: 6Nm

- Install the 10 wiring harness clips.
- Connect the 4 electrical connectors to the front door control module.
- Connect the electrical connector to the bass speaker.
- Connect the electrical connector to the front door impact sensor.
6. Install the front door trim panel.
7. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
