Land Rover Defender: Front Outer Parking Aid Sensor
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the

- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right
side components are similar.
- The ignition must be switched off.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2-post lift.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.

- Remove the clip.
- Release the side undershield.

- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the wheel arch liner front section.
5. If vehicle is equipped with front auxiliary cooler, remove the front
bumper.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the front outer parking aid sensor.

Release the 2 clips and remove the front outer parking aid sensor.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTIONS:
- If a new parking aid sensor is installed, make sure that the membrane
and the cylindrical edge
of the membrane must be covered with a paint layer of at least 2 mm all the
way around as
illustrated.
- The whole paint film thickness on the membranes is up to a maximum of
120 micrometers
(including the electro-coated layer) to make sure a proper sensor function.
- This is also valid for the multiple layer paints.

Check the paint layer of the parking aid sensor.

CAUTIONS:
- Inspect the ring, replace if damaged.
- Make sure that the ring is correctly located to the sensor.

Before installing the front outer parking aid sensor, check the condition and
the position of the ring.

NOTE:
Make sure that the sensor is correctly located to the bracket. Audible clicks
will be heard to
confirm connection.
- Install the front outer parking aid sensor.
- Connect the electrical connector to the front outer parking aid sensor.
4. If vehicle is equipped with front auxiliary cooler, install the front
bumper.
5.
- Install the wheel arch liner front section.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
- Install the 2 clips.
6.
- Reposition the side undershield.
- Install the clip.
7. Install the wheel and tire assembly.

Never remove the coolant reservoir filler
cap when the engine is hot. Escaping
steam or scalding water could cause
serious personal injury.
Unscrew the filler cap slowly, allowing
the pressure to escape before removing
completely.
Antifreeze is highly flammable. Do not
allow antifreeze to come in
Make sure the relevant safety warnings
have been read and understood before
using the tool kit.
The tool kit is located beneath the
loadspace floor panel.

Jack assembly.
Locking lug nut adapter.
Spare wheel alignment tool.
