Land Rover Defender: Front Roof Trim Panel
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Remove the headliner.
2.
CAUTION:
Protect the surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
- Remove the 8 nuts.
- Use suitable cutting wire to remove the roof front trim panel.
3.
CAUTION:
Take extra care not to damage the surrounding components.
Use a suitable scraper to remove the sealant.
4.
CAUTION:
- Use Isoprpanol (IPA) of Heptane cleaning solution to clean the roof
surface.
- Make sure that all bonding surfaces are free of moisture.
Use a suitable cleaning fluid to clean the surface.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTION:
If the date on the panel has expired the primer should be reactivated with Sika
PSA activator.
Apply a bead of JLR-5 sealant to the new roof front trim panel as
illustrated.
2.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the trim panel is correctly installed.
Install the front roof trim panel.
3.
Make sure the front roof trim panel has a even gap between to the trim panel
and body as illustrated.
4. Install and tighten the 8 nuts.
Torque: 4Nm
5. Install the headliner.

WARNING:
Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the
fluid.
CAUTIONS:
If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be
immediately washed down with cold water.
Before disconnecting
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) automatically recognizes any
changes in wheel positions. The vehicle
must be stationary for 15 minutes during
the wheel and tire change, to make sure
that the system can detect the change.
After driving above 16 mph (25 km/h), any
warning should update wit
