Land Rover Defender: Interactive Display Module A
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
GENERAL EQUIPMENT
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
2.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the instrument panel passenger side trim panel.
3.
Remove the bolt.
4.
- Release the 10 clips.
- Remove the instrument panel lower surround trim.
5.
- Release the 8 clips.
- Remove the instrument panel passenger trim panel.
6.
- Use a suitable plastic trim tool to release the 6 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the ambience lighting wiring
harness.
- Remove the Instrument Cluster (IC) upper trim panel.
7.
Remove the right instrument panel upper surround trim bolt.
8.
Remove the left instrument panel upper surround trim bolt.
9.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Remove the instrument panel upper surround trim.
10.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- (1) Move the screen down as illustrated.
- (2) Tilt the screen forward as illustrated to fully release the screen
from the instrument panel bracket.
11.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
12.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the interactive display module.

NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Remove the screen from the instrument panel bracket.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the screen from the support bracket.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
This step is only required if previously removed.
- Install the interactive display module to the support bracket.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
2.
- Reposition the wiring harness into the correct position.
- Install the 2 wiring harness clips.
3. Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
4.
- Install the interactive display module to the instrument panel bracket.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
5.
- Install the instrument panel upper surround trim.
- Install and tighten the 6 screws.
6. Install and tighten the left instrument panel upper surround trim bolt.
7. Install and tighten the right instrument panel upper surround trim bolt.
8.
- Connect the ambience lighting wiring harness electrical connector.
- Install the Instrument Cluster (IC) upper trim panel.
- Make sure the 6 clips are installed correctly.
9.
- Install the instrument panel passenger trim panel.
- Make sure the 8 clips are installed correctly.
10.
- Install the instrument panel lower surround trim.
- Install the 10 clips.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 1.7Nm
11.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for both sides.
- Install the instrument panel passenger side trim panel.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 2.5Nm
12. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

NOTES:
- This step is only required if a new component is installed.
- SRO to be claimed separately.
