Land Rover Defender: Interior Lighting - Description

DESCRIPTION

LOADSPACE LAMPS

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

The loadspace includes interior lamps located on the left and right. There are 2 lamps located in the loadspace side trims.

The lamps are controlled by the BCM/ GWM and operate automatically. The BCM/ GWM receives a signal from the tailgate ajar switch to turn the loadspace lights ON.

TREADPLATE ILLUMINATION

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

The door treadplate lamps are controlled by the BCM/ GWM.

GLOVEBOX LAMP AND SWITCH

Interior Lighting

  1. Glovebox lamp
  2. Glovebox switch assembly

The glovebox lamps operate when the glovebox lid is open.

VANITY MIRROR - SUN VISOR LAMPS

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

The vanity mirror - Sun visor lamps are located in the front sun visors. The lamps are located behind a hinged cover, either side of the vanity mirrors. The lamps are activated by a simple switch which operates when the vanity mirror cover is lifted.

FOOTWELL LAMPS

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

The front footwell lamps illuminate the front footwell when the interior lights operate, also with switch gear illumination for 'mono ambient'.

DOOR MIRROR APPROACH LAMPS

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

  1. Door mirror cover
  2. Side repeater lamp
  3. Door mirror glass
  4. Proximity camera wiring harness connector (if equipped)
  5. Door mirror wiring harness connector
  6. Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor
  7. Approach lamp (if equipped)
  8. Wade sensor (if equipped)
  9. Proximity camera (if equipped)

The door mirrors are equipped with a lamp which illuminates the area below the front door. The housing contains a plastic lens which directs a beam of light in the required area.

The approach lamps are controlled by the BCM/ GWM, through the DDM and PDM. Each door module receives a signal from the BCM/ GWM on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) body systems bus. The signal is required to illuminate or extinguish the approach lamps.

The approach lamps are active when the vehicle:

FRONT OVERHEAD CONSOLE

NOTE: Vehicle with 5 doors is shown, vehicle with 3 doors is similar.

Interior Lighting

  1. Left reading lamp
  2. Front overhead console
  3. Right reading lamp

The reading lamps in the front overhead console are operated manually by touching the lens to switch ON or OFF.

The interior lamp is controlled by the BCM/ GWM, and can also be operated manually.

REAR INTERIOR LAMPS

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

The rear interior lamps are located in the headliner on both left and right side.

The rear interior lamps operate automatically and controlled by the BCM/ GWM. The rear interior lamps can also be operated by pushing the lens to switch the lamp ON or OFF.

INSTRUMENT PANEL AND FLOOR CONSOLE ILLUMINATION

  2. Instrument panel lamp - Short (quantity 2)
  3. Floor console lamp

The Instrument panel and floor console ambience lighting illuminate when the interior lights operate. Depending on the specifications, the floor console ambience lighting can be configured.

DOOR AMBIENCE LIGHTING

Vehicle with 5 doors

  2. Front door ambience lighting LEDs (quantity 2)
  3. Rear door handle ambience lighting LEDs (quantity 2)

The door handle ambience lighting is controlled by the BCM/ GWM. The DDM, PDM, DRDM (if equipped) and PRDM (if equipped) connect to the BCM/ GWM through the HS CAN body systems bus.

AMBIENCE LIGHTING

NOTE: Vehicles without configurable interior ambience lighting illuminate the standard white light for the interior lights.

For configurable ambience lighting, the lighting color and brightness can be set. The setting is on the FCDIM dependant on the variant.

To adjust the configurable interior ambience lighting for color and intensity, select the 'VEHICLE SETTINGS' menu.

Ambience lighting is provided by LED units around the vehicle. Each component is made up of 3 parts:

DOOR PUDDLE LAMP

NOTES:

Interior Lighting

Each of the doors is installed with a puddle lamp to illuminate the ground below the door when the door is open. The front door puddle lamps are located in the lower face of the door, facing the ground. The rear door puddle lamps are located in the bottom of the door trim panel. Each lamp uses a capless bulb.
