The components and conditions that supply the input signals to operate the interior lamps include:
The loadspace lamps are switched ON with the interior lamps. When the tailgate is opened, the interior lamps and the loadspace lamps, are switched ON. The interior lamps and loadspace lamps are subject to the BCM/ GWM timers.
The tailgate OPEN signal to the BCM/ GWM is provided by a microswitch in the tailgate latch assembly.
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
The interior lamps automatically switch ON and OFF in these situations:
This timer is overridden if a door is subsequently opened.
The lamps illuminate slowly and increase to full intensity in 1.3 seconds. The lamps are switched OFF with a decreasing intensity of 2.6 seconds. The fade ON/OFF operation is controlled by the BCM/ GWM.
MANUAL OPERATION
The interior lamps can be switched ON or OFF using the manual switch for the front interior lamp. The front interior lamp switch operates all front and rear interior lamps. If the interior lamps are ON when the switch is pressed, all interior lamps go OFF.
The front interior lamp switch is used to switch the interior lamps ON:
This causes the interior lamps to stay ON continuously. In the Power Mode 0 (vehicle locked and security system armed), the interior lamps subject to the 16 minutes BCM/ GWM timer. The interior lamp is immediately switched OFF when the vehicle is locked. After a locking procedure, the interior lamp automatic control is reinstated.
The rear interior lamp switch operates the rear interior lamps only.
CONTINUOUS OFF
To decrease startup battery consumption if the doors are open or unlocked for long periods, the automatic operation can be set to OFF. The setting is stored in the BCM/ GWM and is activated following a system power down or a reset of the BCM/ GWM.
To set the interior lamps to continuous OFF, push and hold the front interior lamp switch for approximately 3 seconds.
Full automatic control of the interior lamps continue when you push and hold the front interior lamp switch for approximately 3 seconds again. When continuous OFF is active, the rear interior lamp switch can still be used to switch the rear interior lamp only ON or OFF. When continuous OFF mode is active, the front interior lighting can still be manually activated.
IMPACT SIGNAL OPERATION
In the event of an impact that operates the supplementary restraint system, the interior lamps operate.
The impact signal operation of the interior lamps can only be canceled by:
DIAGNOSTICS
The BCM/ GWM records any Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)s and related data. Read the DTCs and related data with the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment.
The JLR approved diagnostic equipment enables certain components to be activated and also live data to be read.
