REMOVAL
WARNINGS:
- The spilling of hot oil is unavoidable during this procedure, care
must be taken to prevent scalding.
- Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from
foreign material. When
disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTES:

removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Drain the engine oil.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
5. Remove the front subframe.

NOTE:
If equipped.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the cable.
7.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the bracket.
8.
- Remove the nut.
- Release the transmission cooler pipes.
9.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Reposition the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor away from the oil pan.
- Use a suitable cable tie to support the A/C compressor.
10.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the oil level gauge assembly.
11.
- Remove the 2 covers.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 pulleys.
12.
Release the wiring harness clip from the engine front cover.
13.
- Remove the 12 bolts.
- Remove the engine front cover.
14.

- Release the 4 clips.
- Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
16.
- Remove the 4 bolts from the oil pan.
- Remove the 4 bolts from the transmission.
17.
Remove the 14 bolts.
18.
Loosen, but do not fully remove the 2 bolts.
19.
Use a suitable tool to release the oil pan.
20.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the oil pan.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTION:
- Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the
mating surfaces.
- Make sure the component is installed and bolts tightened within 7
minutes of applying the
sealant.
Apply a steady 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the oil pan in the areas
shown in the illustration. Use
silicone gasket sealant meeting Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) specifications.
2.
CAUTION:
Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
- Install the oil pan.
- Install the 2 bolts.

CAUTION:
Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
Install the 14 bolts.
4.
Tighten the 16 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
Torque
- Stage1: 10Nm
- Stage2: 25Nm
5.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts to the transmission.
Torque: 48Nm
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts to the oil pan.
Torque: 25Nm
6.
- Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
- Install the 4 clips.
7.
Use the special tool to install the new crankshaft front seal to the engine
front cover.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628
Renew Part: Crankshaft front oil seal Quantity: 1.
8.
Apply a steady 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the areas shown in the
illustration. Use silicone gasket
sealant meeting Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) specifications.
9.
- Install the engine front cover.
- Install and tighten the 12 bolts.
Torque: 12Nm
10. Install the wiring harness clip to the engine front cover.
11.
- Install the 2 pulleys.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 25Nm
- Install the 2 covers.
12.
- Install the oil level gauge assembly.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 7Nm
- Install the 2 clips.
13.
- Remove and discard the cable tie that supports the Air Conditioning
(A/C) compressor.
- Reposition the A/C compressor in the correct location.
- Install and tighten the 3 bolts.
Torque: 25Nm
14.
- Install the transmission cooler pipes.
- Install and tighten the nut.
Torque: 12Nm
15.
- Install the bracket.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 12Nm
- Install the 4 wiring harness clips.
16.
NOTE:
If equipped.
- Install the cable.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 12Nm
17. Install the front subframe.
18. Install the crankshaft pulley.
19. Fill the engine with oil.
20. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
