Startup Battery (REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION)
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
GENERAL EQUIPMENT
REMOVAL
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
- The Startup battery is always under the front row right seat.
1.
NOTE:
Note the position of the front row right seat before repositioning.
Reposition the front row right seat fully forward and fully upward.
2.
Release the access cover from the 2 grommets.
3.
Remove the access cover.
4.
CAUTION:
Do not disconnect the electrical connector from the Battery Monitoring System
(BMS) sensor.
- Loosen, but do not fully remove the nut.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
- Reposition the startup battery ground cable away from the startup
battery.
5.
Release the startup battery positive terminal cover.
6.
- Loosen, but do not fully remove the nut.
- Disconnect the startup battery positive cable.
- Reposition the startup battery positive cable away from the startup
battery.
7.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the startup battery clamp.
8.
- Remove the startup battery.
- Disconnect the breather pipe from the startup battery.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Connect the breather pipe to the startup battery.
- Install the startup battery.
2.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the startup BMS module wiring harness does not get caught beneath
the startup
battery clamp.
- Install the startup battery clamp.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 24Nm
3.
- Connect the startup battery positive cable.
- Make sure that the startup battery positive terminal is correctly
installed.
- Tighten the nut.
Torque: 6Nm
4. Install the positive terminal cover.
5.
- Connect the startup battery ground cable.
- Make sure that the startup battery ground terminal is correctly
installed.
- Tighten the nut.
Torque: 6Nm
6. Reposition the front row right seat in the noted position.
7. If a new startup battery is installed, use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
approved diagnostic equipment to
calibrate the BMS control module.
