Land Rover Defender: Sun Visor
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1.
Reposition the front seats.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the A-pillar trim panel.
4.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the B-pillar trim panel.
5.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the C-pillar trim panel.
6.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the D-pillar trim panel.
7. Remove the overhead console.
8. Remove the interior rear view mirror.
9.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other components.
- Release the 2 access covers.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
10.
Remove the trim panel.
11.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the washer fluid hose.
12.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Remove the nut.
- Release the 2 wiring harness.
- Disconnect the washer fluid hose.
13.
Remove the 2 access covers.
14.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the center sun visor.
15.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Release the 4 clips.
- Remove the access cover.
16.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Remove the 2 bolts.
17.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Release the clip.
- Reposition the sun visor.

NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 sun visor clips.

NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Release the 3 front clips.
- Release the headliner from the 2 alpine windows seals.
- Release the headliner from the rear clip.

NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Release the tape.
- Release the sun visor clip.

NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Reposition the sun visor wiring harness.

NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Release the electrical connector from the headlliner.
- Remove the sun visor.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Install the sun visor to the headliner.
2.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Connect the electrical connector.
3.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Use suitable tape to secure the electric cable.
- Install the sun visor clip.
4.
NOTE:
- This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Repeat this the for the other side.
- Install the headliner assembly.
- Secure the 4 clips.
- Secure the 2 alpine window seals.
5.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Install and tighten the 2 sun visor bolts.
Torque: 4.1Nm
6.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Install the access cover.
7.
- Install the 2 sun visor clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 4.1Nm
- Secure the sun visor to the clip.
8.
- Install the center sun visor.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 1.5Nm
9.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
Install the 2 center sun visor access covers.
10.
- Connect the washer fluid hose.
- Secure the 2 wiring harnesses with the 2 clips.
- Install and tighten the nut.
- Connect the 3 electrical connectors.
11.
- Connect the washer fluid hose.
- Secure the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Connect the electrical connector.
12.
Install the trim panel.
13.
NOTE:
Repeat this the for the other side.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 9Nm
- Secure the access cover.
14. Install the interior rear view mirror.
15. Install the overhead console.
16.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Install the D-pillar trim panel.
17.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the C-pillar trim panel.
18.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the B-pillar trim panel.
19.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Install the A-pillar trim panel.
20. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
21. Reposition the front seats.
