Land Rover Defender: Tailgate Striker Adjustment
GENERAL PROCEDURES
CHECK
CAUTIONS:
- If the striker bolts are fully removed, new bolts must be installed.
- Make sure to protect the paintwork.

Check the tailgate flush on both side. If incorrect, follow the adjust
procedure below.
ADJUSTMENT
1.

- Remove the plastic cover from the wedge.
- Loose but not fully remove the 2 bolts.
2.

- Tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 2Nm
- Loose the 2 bolts with quarter of a turn.
- Push the wedge towards the vehicle to the outermost position.

- Release the 3 clips.
- Remove the access panel.

- Loose but not fully remove tailgate striker 2 bolts.
- Loose but not fully remove the wedging guide 2 bolts.

Adjust the tailgate striker as illustrated.

CAUTION:
Make sure the tailgate striker installed parallel.

Tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 24Nm
7.

- Close the tailgate carefully with the closing motor.
- Open the tailgate.
- Tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 24Nm

Tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 24Nm

Install the access panel.

Install the plastic cover to the wedge.
