OVERVIEW

The air distribution and filtering system controls the distribution and quality of air supplied into the front and rear of the passenger compartment. The system consists of:

The system is available in 2 forms:

DESCRIPTION

AIR DUCTS

The air ducts consist of pipes connected between the climate control assembly and various air vents around the passenger compartment. The center sections of the air ducts for the side window vents are integrated into the structure of the instrument panel. The rear footwell air ducts are secured to the floor of the vehicle. The rear footwell air ducts distribute air from the climate control assembly through the air ducts underneath the carpet. The second row seat air ducts for the second row seat passenger face vents are integrated into the floor console.

There are 8 duct air temperature sensors installed to provide more accurate temperature control.

AIR VENTS

The adjustable air vents allow the vehicle occupants to control the flow and direction of air from the air ducts.

The instrument panel contains 4 adjustable air vents:

The instrument panel contains 4 fixed air vents:

The second row seat passengers have 2 adjustable air vents installed in the rear of the floor console.

AIR FILTER

NOTE: RHD vehicle is shown, LHD vehicle is similar.

Air Distribution and Filtering

The air filter is located behind the passenger side of the instrument panel and is housed within the climate control assembly. The air filter removes fine particles, including pollen and odors, from the air entering the climate control assembly.

The air filter is available in 2 different variants, depending on vehicle specification:

AIR IONIZER

NOTE: RHD vehicle is shown, LHD vehicle is similar.

Air Distribution and Filtering

The air ionizer is located behind the center of the instrument panel. The air ionizer operates when an electrical signal is received from the Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control module.

The air ionizer creates nano sized ion particles covered by water molecules. The ion particles are referred to as electrostatically charged atomised water. The ion particles can inhibit viruses and bacteria as well as deodorizing the passenger compartment.

OPERATION

The HVAC control module controls the distribution of the air flow through the air ducts.
