REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Brake discs must be renewed in axle sets.

NOTE:

• The brake pad wear warning indicator sensor must be replaced each time the brake pads are serviced.
• This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.

1. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to activate the Integrated Power Brake assembly mode.

2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

3. Remove the wheel and tire.

NOTE: Left side only.

• Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor.
• Release the brake pad wear sensor grommet and position the component to one side.

CAUTIONS:

• Do not allow the brake caliper to hang on the brake pad wear warning sensor lead.
• Make sure that the brake hose does not support the full weight of the brake caliper assembly.

• Remove and discard the brake caliper bolts.
• Release the brake caliper and position to one side.

  General Equipment: Cable ties

• Remove and discard the brake disc bolt.
• Remove the brake disc.

INSTALLATION

1.

Clean and inspect the brake disc shield.

Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA)

Use brake cleaner fluid to clean the brake disc.

Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA)

• Install the brake disc.
• Install and tighten a new brake disc bolt.

  Renew Part: Brake disc bolt Quantity: 1.

  Torque: 35Nm

4.

WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.

Use brake cleaning fluid to clean the brake caliper housing.

Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA)

NOTE: This step should only be performed when installing new brake discs.

If new discs are installed, install new brake pads.

CAUTIONS:

• Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted and is correctly located.
• Make sure that new bolts are installed.

NOTE: Make sure the cooling scoop is aligned and installed in the correct orientation.

• Install the brake caliper.
• Install and tighten the 2 new brake caliper bolts.

  Renew Part: Brake caliper carrier bolt(s) Quantity: 2.

  Torque

  • Stage1: 133Nm
  • Stage2: 60º

7.

NOTE: Left side only.

• Connect the brake pad wear sensor.

8. Install the wheel and tire.

9. Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to deactivate the Integrated Power Brake service mode.

10. Press the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up with brake fluid if necessary.
