MATERIALS

REMOVAL
CAUTIONS:
- Brake discs must be renewed in axle sets.
- The brake pad wear sensor must be replaced each time the brake pads
are serviced.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right
side components are similar.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.

WARNING:
Take extra care that the brake pedal is not pressed during the replacement
procedure. Failure to
follow this instruction might result in personal injury.
NOTE:
This step is only required if the JLR diagnostic equipment is not available.
Set the EPB to the maintenance position.
3. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
4. Remove the rear wheels and tires.
5.
NOTE:
Right side only.
Disconnect and release the brake pad wear sensor.
6.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper guide pins.
- Release the brake caliper and tie aside.
7.
- Remove the brake pads.
- Remove the 2 anti-rattle springs.
8. Repeat the above procedure for the other side components.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Use brake cleaner to clean the brake caliper housing and brake caliper
carrier.
Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA)

WARNING:
If the brake caliper piston seal is damaged a new brake caliper must be
installed.
- Inspect the caliper piston seals for damage.
- Use a suitable tool to fully retract the brake caliper piston.
Special Tool(s): 206-080
3.
- Install the 2 anti-rattle springs.
- Install the 2 brake pads.
4.
- Position the brake caliper.
- Install and tighten the 2 brake caliper guide pins.
Torque: 35Nm
- Connect the electrical connector to the EPB.
5. Repeat the above procedure for the other side components.
6.
NOTE:
Right side only.
Connect and secure the brake pad wear sensor.
7. Install the rear wheels and tires.
8.
CAUTION:
Failure to follow this instruction may lead to brake warning lamps and
Diagnostic Trouble Code(s)
(DTC) being set.
- NOTE:
Although the brake pedal might feel firm make sure to hold the pedal through
the 10
second period.
If the Integrated Power Brake unit - 'Assembly Mode' has not been
activated, press and hold the
brake pedal in a single apply for 10 seconds.
- If the brake pedal felt soft and fell to the floor proceed to substep 4.
- If the brake pedal felt firm proceed to substep 5.
- NOTE:
Make sure to repeatedly press the brake pedal until a firm brake pedal feel
is reached.
If the Integrated Power Brake unit - 'Assembly Mode' has been activated,
press the brake pedal
several times until a firm brake pedal feel is reached.
- Check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up with brake
fluid if necessary.
9.
NOTE:
This step is only required if the JLR diagnostic equipment is not available.
Disable the EPB maintenance mode.
