Land Rover Defender: Health and Safety Precautions
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
INTRODUCTION
Modern vehicles contain many materials and liquids which if not handled with
care can be hazardous to both personal
health and the environment. Also, many of the procedures associated with vehicle
maintenance and repair involve
physical hazards or other risks to health.
This subsection lists some of these hazardous operations and the materials and
equipment associated with them.
Precautions necessary to avoid these hazards are identified.
The list is not exhaustive and all operations and procedures and the handling of
materials, should be completed with
health and safety in mind.
Before using any product the Materials Safety Data Sheet supplied by the
manufacturer or supplier should be
consulted.

The treadwear grade is a comparative
rating based on the wear rate of the tire
when tested under controlled conditions
on a specified government test course.
For example, a tire graded 150 would
wear one and one-half (1½) times as well
on the government course as a tire graded
100.
