Land Rover Defender: Rear Suspension Height Sensor

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

GENERAL EQUIPMENT

REMOVAL

NOTES:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
• This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side components are similar.

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

2. Remove the wheel and tire.

3.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Release the 2 wiring harness from the bracket.
• Release the electrical connector from the bracket.

4.

• Disconnect the rear suspension height sensor link from the rear lower control arm.
• Remove the 2 bolts.
• Remove the rear suspension height sensor with the bracket.

5.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

• Remove the 2 screws.
• Remove the rear suspension height sensor from the bracket.

INSTALLATION

1.

• Install the rear suspension height sensor to the bracket.
• Install and tighten the 2 screws.

  Torque: 3.25Nm

2.

• Install the rear suspension height sensor with the bracket to the vehicle.
• Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

  Torque: 10Nm

• Connect the rear suspension height sensor link to the rear lower control arm.
• Connect the electrical connector.
• Secure the 2 wiring harness to the bracket.
• Secure the electrical connector to the bracket.

3. Install the wheel and tire.

4. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to calibrate the suspension ride height.
