Land Rover Defender: Roof Opening Panel - Removal and Installation
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
CAUTIONS:
- Place the glass on felt covered supports. Do not stand on edge as
this can cause chips which
subsequently develop into cracks.
- Protect the surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1.
Open the roof opening panel as illustrated.
2.
Remove the 2 rear roof opening panel bolts.
3.
Remove the roof opening panel center trim.
4.
Remove the left roof opening panel trim.
5.
Remove the 3 left roof opening panel bolts.
6.
Remove the right roof opening panel trim.
7.
Remove the 3 right roof opening panel bolts.
8.
With assistance, remove the roof opening panel assembly.
INSTALLATION
1.
With assistance, install the roof opening panel assembly.
2.
CAUTION:
Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.
Install the 3 left roof opening panel bolts finger tight.
3.
CAUTION:
Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.
Install the 3 right roof opening panel bolts finger tight.
4.
CAUTION:
Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.
Install the 2 rear roof opening panel bolts finger tight.
5.
Close the roof opening panel.
6.
NOTE:
The roof opening panel should be positioned in the center of its aperture.
Make sure that the gaps around the roof opening panel are even and as
illustrated.
7.
- Fully tighten the 6 left and right roof opening panel bolts.
Torque: 4.5Nm
8. Open the roof opening panel.
9.
Fully tighten the 2 rear roof opening panel bolts.
Torque: 4.5Nm
10. Install the left and right roof opening panel trim panels.
11. Install the roof opening panel center trim.
12. Close the roof opening panel.
