Land Rover Defender: Showroom Support Unit Connection Procedure
GENERAL PROCEDURES
GENERAL EQUIPMENT
CONNECT
WARNINGS:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when
working on or near the vehicle
battery. Highly flamable vapors may be present and ignite. Failure to follow
these instructions may result in
personal injury.
- Avoid flames, sparks or lighted substances.
- Switch off the current from the showroom support unit before making
any electrical connections or
disconnections.
- The showroom support unit must never be connected to both primary
battery terminals. Always follow the
safety warnings and documentation of the approved Jaguar Land Rover
equipment being used.
- The showroom support unit ground cable must always be connected to
the vehicle last and disconnected
first.
CAUTIONS:
- These are recommended and approved engineering routes. No other
routes should be chosen.
- Do not connect the showroom support unit directly to the primary
battery ground terminal. The battery
monitoring system (BMS) must be between the showroom support unit ground
cable and the primary
battery ground terminal.
- Showroom support units are only required to be switched on during
showroom opening hours. Outside of
these hours, switch off all showroom support units.
1. Carry out the showroom preparation procedure.

CAUTIONS:
- Make sure that the cables are connected in the correct order.
- Make sure the showroom support unit positive and ground cables are
routed safely to avoid
damage to the cables or vehicle.
- Connect the protection device to the showroom support unit and place
under the vehicle.
General Equipment: Showroom Support Unit (SSU2) protection device SSU2-BPI
- Route the showroom support unit positive and ground cables down through
the engine bay to
the floor.

- Connect the showroom support unit positive cable to the jump start
positive terminal.
General Equipment: Showroom support unit (SSU2) clamps JLR-Blade
- Connect the showroom support unit ground cable to the jump start ground
terminal.
General Equipment: Showroom support unit (SSU2) clamps JLR-Blade
- Connect the showroom support unit positive and ground cables to the
protection device.
