REMOVAL
WARNINGS:
- If the vehicle has been powered down, do not power up the vehicle
until all the bonding points have been
tested.
- It is the responsibility of the Electric Vehicle Senior Authorised
Person (EVSAP) to make sure they comply
with any local legislation for work on High Voltages (HV).
- The approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn where
indicated within this procedure
and not removed unless indicated within a step. All items of PPE must be
checked for signs of damage
before each use, if damaged, replacement PPE must be obtained before doing
this procedure.
NOTES:
- All Permit To Work (PTW) documents must be kept for a minimum of 5
years.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1.
WARNING:
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Electric Vehicle Competent Person (EVCP) trained
technicians only.
This procedure involves work on components associated with the High Voltage (HV)
system. Only
technicians qualified to Electric Vehicle Competent Person (EVCP) level or
higher are allowed to do
this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in
this procedure have read and
understood the Electric Vehicle (EV) Safety Rules.
2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
3.
Power Down the High Voltage (HV) system. Only technicians qualified to EVAP
level are allowed to perform
this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in
this procedure have read and
understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.
4. Remove the cylinder head.
5.
Position the special tools as illustrated.
Special Tool(s): 303-252
6.
Tighten the special tool until the valve spring retaining collets can be
removed.
7. Remove the special tool.
8.
Remove the valve spring and cap.
9.
Remove and inspect the valve.
10.
Remove and discard the valve stem seal.
11. Repeat the removal procedure for the remaining valves.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Apply a small amount of fine grinding paste to the face of the valve.
- Install the valve into the cylinder head valve guide.
- Using a suitable tool, lap in the valve until a continuous mark is
visible on both the valve and the
valve seat.
- Remove the valve and clean off all the grinding paste from the valve and
the valve seat.
2. Install a new valve stem seal.
3. Lubricate the valve stem with clean engine oil.
4. Install the valve into the cylinder head valve guide.
5. Install the valve spring and cap.
6. Using the special tool, install the valve spring retaining collets.
7. Repeat the installation procedure for the remaining valves.
8. Install the cylinder head.
9.
Power Up the High Voltage (HV) system. Only technicians qualified to EVAP
level are allowed to perform
this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in
this procedure have read and
understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.
