Land Rover Defender: Brake Caliper 2 Piston Floating Caliper
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
GENERAL EQUIPMENT
REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from
foreign material. When
disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to activate
the Integrated Power Brake
assembly mode.

3. Remove the wheel and tire.

WARNING:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
CAUTION:
If the brake hose banjo bolt has been loosened or removed, a new brake hose
assembly must be
installed.
NOTE:
Left side only.
- Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor grommet and position the component to
one side.
- Disconnect the brake hose from the brake caliper.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper slide pins.
- Remove the brake caliper.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTION:
Make sure that a new brake hose assembly is to be installed.
Install a new brake hose.
2.
- Install the brake caliper.
- Install and tighten the 2 brake caliper slide pins.
Torque: 35Nm
- Connect the brake hose and tighten the banjo bolt.
Torque: 32Nm
- Connect the brake pad wear sensor to the brake pad.
- Secure the brake pad wear sensor grommet to the bracket.
3. Bleed the brake system.
4. Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to deactivate the Integrated
Power Brake assembly mode.

5. Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to complete the Leakage and Air
Monitoring test to the
Integrated Power Brake.

6. Install the wheel and tire.
