Land Rover Defender: Front Bumper

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Make sure that the vehicle paintwork is protected.

NOTE:

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

2.

NOTE: Repeat the procedure for the other side.

Remove the front wheels and tires.

3. Remove the radiator grille.

4.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

Release the clip

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

7. Remove the front bumper lower cover.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

Remove the 5 bolts from the front bumper upper section.

Remove the lower 4 clips from the front bumper.

Remove the front bumper wiring harness.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

NOTE: Take extra care when releasing the clips.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

Remove the 6 screws.

NOTE: Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.

INSTALLATION

1.

CAUTION: Make sure that the component is correctly located on the locating dowels.

NOTE: Steps 1 to 7 are only required if the components were previously removed.

NOTE: Make sure that all the clips are correctly installed.

NOTE: Make sure that all the clips are correctly installed.

NOTE:

  • Make sure that all the clips are correctly installed.
  • Repeat this step for the other side.

5.

NOTE: Make sure that the sensor is correctly located to the bracket. Audible clicks will be heard to confirm connection.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

7.

NOTE: Make sure that all the clips are correctly installed.

8.

CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding paintwork.

9. Install the 4 lower clips to the front bumper.

10. Install and tighten the upper 5 bolts to the front bumper.

Torque: 6Nm

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

14. Install the front bumper lower cover.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

16.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

Install the front wheel arch inner moulding clip.

17.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

18. Install the radiator grille.

19.

NOTE: Repeat the procedure for the other side.

Install the front wheels and tires.
