Land Rover Defender: Hood Latch
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1.
- Remove the 4 upper fasteners.
- Release the 4 lower clips.
- Remove the radiator grille.
2.
NOTE:
Do this step on both sides.
- Remove the fastener.
- Remove the upper air deflector.
3.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 horns.
4.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 4 clips.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the active vanes.
5.
- Release the cable from the clip.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Reposition the hood latch away from the hood latch panel.
6.
NOTE:
Right side hood latch.
- Remove the 2 cable clips from the hood latch.
- Remove the hood latch.
7.
NOTE:
Left side hood latch.
- Remove the 3 cable clips from the hood latch.
- Remove the hood latch.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the cables to the hood latch.
2.
- Connect the electrical connector to the hood latch.
- Install and tighten the 2 hood latch bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
- Install the cable to the clip.
3.
- Install the active vanes.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 5Nm
- Install the 4 clips.
- Connect the electrical connector.
4.
- Install the 2 horns.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 7Nm
- Install the 2 clips.
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
5.
NOTE:
Do this step on both sides.
- Install the upper air deflector.
- Install the fastener.
6.
- Install the radiator grille.
- Secure the 4 lower clips.
- Install the 4 upper fasteners.
