Land Rover Defender: Hood Latch Panel
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2-post lift.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Make the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) safe.
4. Remove the front bumper.
5.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Release the electrical connector.
- Remove the lower air deflector.
6.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the upper air deflector.

NOTE:
This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side
components are similar.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the clip.
- Remove the horn.
8.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the hood release cable.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Reposition the hood latch away from the hood latch panel.
9.
Remove the 14 bolts.
10.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the hood latch panel.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Install the hood latch panel.
- Install the 2 upper radiator clips.
2.
- Install and tighten the 14 hood latch panel bolts.
Torque: 25Nm
3.
- Install the hood latch.
- Install and tighten the 4 hood latch bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
- Install the hood release cable.
- Connect the electrical connector.

NOTE:
This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side
components are similar.
- Install the horn.
- Install the horn clip.
- Install and tighten the horn bolt.
Torque: 7Nm
- Connect the electrical connector.
5.
- Install the upper air deflector.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install and tighten the 2 air deflector screws.
Torque: 5Nm
6.
- Install the lower air deflector.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the wiring harness clip.
- Install and tighten the 6 air deflector screws.
Torque: 5Nm
7. Install the front bumper.
8. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
