REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:

removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Remove the crankshaft rear seal.
4.
Release the clip.
5.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the clip.
- Reposition the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) sensor away from the
lower timing cover.
6.
CAUTION:
Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
Remove the 2 bolts.
7.
CAUTION:
- Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
- Take extra care not to damage the surrounding components.
- Remove the 14 bolts.
- Remove the lower timing cover.
8.
Use a suitable tool to reposition the 2 dowels as illustrated.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTIONS:
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign
material.
- The lower timing cover must be installed within 7 minutes of applying
the RTV sealant.
Apply a continuous 3 mm bead of suitable RTV sealant in the illustrated
areas.
2.
CAUTION:
Take care not to damage the cylinder head gasket when installing the lower
timing cover.
- Install the lower timing cover.
- Make sure the locating dowels are installed correctly.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5Nm
3.
Install 2 more bolts as illustrated and tighten the 4 bolts to the correct
torque.
Torque: 25Nm
4.
Install and tighten the remaining 12 bolts.
Torque
- M8x35: 25Nm
- M8x30: 25Nm
- M6x30: 12Nm
5.
- Reposition the CKP sensor into the correct location.
- Install the clip.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 8Nm
6.
Install the clip.
7. Install the crankshaft rear seal.
8. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
9. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
