REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

Remover/Installer, Transmission Control Module Electrical Connector

GENERAL EQUIPMENT

Main Control Valve Body

REMOVAL

NOTE:

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

2. Remove the transmission fluid pan.

3.

CAUTION: Take precautions to avoid any electrostatic charging, which could damage this component.

Main Control Valve Body

Disconnect the oil accumulator electrical connector.

4.

Main Control Valve Body

Remove the 3 oil accumulator retaining bolt(s).

5.

Main Control Valve Body

Remove the oil accumulator.

6.

CAUTION: Make sure all suitable safety precautions are taken to protect the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and main control valve body electrical connector pins against electrostatic discharge.

Main Control Valve Body

Remove the 3 valve body bracket bolt(s).

7.

Main Control Valve Body

Remove the electrical harness bolt(s).

8.

Main Control Valve Body

Disconnect the transmission electrical connector.

9.

Main Control Valve Body

Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.

10.

Main Control Valve Body

Release the electrical connector retaining clip.

11.

Main Control Valve Body

Use the special tool to turn the electrical connector 90 degrees clockwise.

12.

Main Control Valve Body

Use a suitable tool to release the electrical connector from the transmission casing.

13.

Main Control Valve Body

Remove the 14 valve body assembly bolt(s).

14.

CAUTION: Note the orientation of the pressure pipes prior to removal.

NOTE: Note the position of the manual park brake release.

Main Control Valve Body

Release the linkage and remove the valve body.

INSTALLATION

1.

NOTE: Steps 1 and 2 are to be completed together.

Main Control Valve Body

Make sure that pressure pipe (1), pressure pipe (2) and Rubber seal pipe (3) are installed correctly before installing the valve body assembly.

2.

CAUTION: Care must be taken when refitting the valve body assembly.

NOTE: Make sure that the component is installed to the noted removal position.

Main Control Valve Body

Install the valve body and secure the linkage.

3.

NOTE: Tighten the retaining bolt(s)(s) evenly and progressively.

Main Control Valve Body

Install the valve body bolt(s)(s) in the sequence shown.

Torque: 8Nm

4.

Main Control Valve Body

Use the special tool to turn the electrical connector 90 degrees anti clockwise to install.

Special Tool(s): JLR-308-844

5. Remove the special tool.

6.

Main Control Valve Body

Make sure that the electrical connector is installed in the correct orientation as noted in the removal step.

7.

Main Control Valve Body

Secure the electrical connector retaining clip.

8.

CAUTION: Make sure that the electrical connector is correctly installed.

Main Control Valve Body

Connect the transmission electrical connector.

9.

Main Control Valve Body

Install the electrical harness bolt(s).

Torque: 8Nm

10.

CAUTION: Make sure all suitable safety precautions are taken to protect the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and main control valve body electrical connector pins against electrostatic discharge.

Main Control Valve Body

Install and tighten the 3 valve body bracket bolt(s).

11.

Main Control Valve Body

Install the oil accumulator.

12.

NOTE: Tighten the retaining bolt(s)(s) evenly and progressively.

Main Control Valve Body

Install and tighten the 3 oil accumulator retaining bolt(s).

Torque: 8Nm

13.

Main Control Valve Body

Disconnect the oil accumulator electrical connector.

14. Install the transmission fluid pan.

15. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to configure the main control valve body.
