Land Rover Defender: Rear Spoiler
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1.
Open the tailgate.
2.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
- Release the 6 clips.
- Remove the upper body finisher.
3.
Remove the 2 bolts.
4.
Remove the 2 bolts.
5.
NOTE:
Do not remove the component at this stage.
Release the 11 clips.
6.
NOTE:
With assistance remove the components.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the rear spoiler finisher.
7.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 7 bolts.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the rear spoiler bracket.
8.
NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the High Mounted Stop Lamp (HMSL) bracket.
9.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Remove the HMSL.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
Only do the following step(s) if the component was previously removed.
- Install the High Mounted Stop Lamp (HMSL) to the rear spoiler finisher.
- Install and tighten the 6 HMSL screws.
Torque: 2Nm
2.
NOTE:
Only do the following step(s) if the component was previously removed.
- Install the HMSL bracket.
- Install and tighten the 4 HMSL bracket screws.
Torque: 2Nm
3.
- Install the rear spoiler bracket.
- Install and tighten the 7 rear spoiler bracket bolts.
Torque: 4.5Nm
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the rear spoiler bracket.
- Install the 4 wiring harness clips.
4.
NOTE:
With assistance, install the component.
- Connect the electrical connector to the HMSL.
- Install the 2 electrical connector clips to the rear spoiler bracket.
- Install the rear spoiler finisher.
5. Install the 11 rear spoiler finisher clips.
6.
- Install and tighten the 4 rear spoiler finisher bolts.
Torque: 4.5Nm
7.
NOTE:
Repeat this step for the other side.
Install the upper body finisher.
8. Close the tailgate
