WHEEL ARCH PROTECTION - PART NUMBER: 90: VPLEP0381, VPLEP0382, 110: VPLEP0379, VPLEP0380

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

WARNING: Accessories which are not correctly installed can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to installation. Comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.

CAUTIONS:

• If protective wax has been applied to the vehicle it must be thoroughly removed before starting this procedure.
• The vehicle must be clean, dry and at workshop temperature. Vehicles moved into the workshop from cold or wet conditions should be dried and left to stand for a minimum of 2 hours.

NOTES:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side components are similar.

REMOVAL

1.

CAUTION: Replace any missing clips.

NOTE: Note if the part is for the left or right side of the vehicle by observing the marking on the reverse side.

Check all of the clips shown are present and seated correctly.

2. Prepare the left side of the vehicle by following removal steps 3 to 15.

CAUTIONS:

• Protect the surrounding paintwork and trim to the following steps to avoid damage.
• Remove any remaining clips left in the vehicle body in the following step.

Remove the front wheel arch trim.

4. Open the rear door.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

Remove the rear wheel arch trim.

6.

NOTE: This step is only applicable to vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

For vehicles with 90 wheelbase, remove the lower door cladding. Ask your Jaguar Land Rover Retailer for a copy of this instruction if you do not have access to TOPIx.

7.

NOTE: This step is only applicable to vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

Remove the rear wheel arch trim.

8.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

Remove the illustrated side trim from the rear door.

9.

NOTES:

• The clips must not engage into the body at this stage.
• Use suitable tape to hold the wheel arch protector against the body.

Install the front wheel arch protector (A) for masking purposes only.

10.

Apply suitable tape to mask the top edge of the front wheel arch protector on the vehicle body. Remove the front wheel arch protector.

NOTES:

• Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.
• The clips must not engage into the body at this stage.
• Use suitable tape to hold the wheel arch protector against the body.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (B) for masking purposes only.

12.

NOTES:

• This step is only applicable to vehicles with 90 wheelbase.
• The clips must not engage into the body at this stage.
• Use suitable tape to hold the wheel arch protector against the body.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (C) for masking purposes only.

NOTE: Illustrations show vehicles with 110 wheelbase. Process is same for vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

Apply suitable tape to mask the top edge of the wheel arch protector on the vehicle body. Remove the wheel arch protector.

NOTES:

• Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.
• Take care to not engage the clips into the rear door at this stage.
• Use suitable tape to hold the wheel arch protector against the rear door.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (D) for masking purposes only.

15.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

Using suitable tape mask the top edge of the wheel arch protector on the rear door. Remove the wheel arch protector.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the wheel arch protection to the left side of the vehicle by following install steps 2 to 22.

NOTE: Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment when using cleaner or adhesion promoter in the following steps.

Using the cleaner supplied in the kit (E) clean in a 20 mm strip from the edge of the tape.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

CAUTION: Wait for a minimum of 2 minutes before proceeding to next step.

NOTE: To activate the adhesion promoter, hold the tube between your finger and thumb, squeeze the middle of the tube until you here a crack noise, shake the tube gently and the fluid will flow to the tip.

Using the adhesion promoter supplied in the kit (F) wipe in a 20 mm strip from the edge of the tape.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

10. Remove the masking tape from the front wheel arch.

NOTE: Additionally complete install step 12 for North American market vehicles.

Install the front wheel arch protector (A).

1. Install the lower tabs into the vehicle body trim.
2. Push the fixings into the vehicle body.

• This step is only applicable to North American market vehicles with 90 or 110 wheelbase.
• Illustrations show North American market vehicles with 110 wheelbase. Process is same for North American market vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

Connect the vehicle electrical connector to the front wheel arch protector indicator light plug.

• Install the front wheel arch protector (A) to the vehicle as shown in previous step.

NOTES:

• Firmly push the top of the wheel arch protector along its length to make sure there is good adhesion to the fender.
• Make sure the wheel arch protector is flush against the fender.
• If the backing for the adhesion strip snaps and it cannot be accessed, then peel away the backing from the adhesion strip by starting from the other end.

While applying pressure to the wheel arch protector, peel away the backing from the adhesion strip.

14.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

Remove the masking tape from the rear door.

15.

NOTE: Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (D).

1. Install the lower tab into the vehicle body trim.
2. Push the fixings into the vehicle body. Listen for an audible click to confirm the wheel arch protector is correctly installed.

• Complete step only applicable for vehicles with 110 wheelbase.
• Firmly push the top of the wheel arch protector along its length to make sure there is good adhesion to the rear door.
• Make sure the wheel arch protector is flush against the rear door.
• If the backing for the adhesion strip snaps and it cannot be accessed, then peel away the backing from the adhesion strip by starting from the other end.

While applying pressure to the wheel arch protector, peel away the backing from the adhesion strip.

17. Remove the masking tape from the rear wheel arch.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (B).

1. Install the lower tabs into the vehicle body trim.
2. Push the fixings into the vehicle body.

• Additionally complete install step 20 for North American market vehicles.

Install the rear wheel arch protector (C).

1. Install the lower tab into the vehicle body trim.
2. Push the fixings into the vehicle body.

• Illustrations show North American market vehicles with 110 wheelbase. Process is same for North American market vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

Connect the vehicle electrical connector to the rear wheel arch protector indicator light plug.

• Install the rear wheel arch protector (B) to the vehicle as shown in install step 18 or 19.

NOTE: This step is only applicable to vehicles with 90 wheelbase.

Install the lower door cladding. Ask your Jaguar Land Rover Retailer for a copy of this instruction if you do not have access to TOPIx.

• Firmly push the top of the wheel arch protector along its length to make sure there is good adhesion to the body.
• Make sure the wheel arch protector is flush against the body.
• If the backing for the adhesion strip snaps and it cannot be accessed, then peel away the backing from the adhesion strip by starting from the other end.

NOTE: When installing the new wheel arch protection is designed to not fit flush with existing trim and will have an over hang on the front and rear.

25. Repeat all the above install and removal steps to install the wheel arch protection to the right side of the vehicle.
