Land Rover Defender: Rear Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub Runout Check
GENERAL PROCEDURES
ACTIVATION
NOTES:
- Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential
information is always correct.
- It is not necessary to complete the parking brake shoe 'bedding-in
procedure' if the rear brake discs or
parking brake shoes have been removed for access to other components.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Remove the rear brake disc.
3.
Using special tool (100-053) mount a Dial Test Indicator (DTI) to and secure
to the backplate using the
upper backplate fixing.
4.
CAUTION:
Make sure the DTI is positioned clear of the wheel studs.
Position the DTI probe on the outer edge of the hub face.
5. If the hub runout exceeds the limit replace the hub.
6. Remove the DTI.
7. Install the rear brake disc.

For vehicles installed with pusher fan, unplug and route harness from the fan
inside the ducting. The
harness will be secured to the winch cradle.
Install the radiator air duct using the 6 retaining clips.

Reposition the auxiliary radiator(s) if present to gain access to the rear of
